DOLLHOUSE: THE ERADICATION OF FEMALE SUBJECTIVITY FROM AMERICAN POPULAR CULTURE // ROCK SALT RELEASING
But, is Junie Spoons really the one to blame? Was she simply, like many other rise-and-fall starlets, a victim to the media and this new era obsessed with identity and entitlement?

Los Angeles, CA – Aug 3, 2020 – “DOLLHOUSE places that tragic outlook under the microscope – albeit one without the media trained PR twisting the narrative and lashings of comedy,” wrote The Rumble.

ROCK SALT RELEASING will release the multi award-winning feature debut from writer/director/producer, Nicole Brending (Selfied, Operated by Invisible Hands), DOLLHOUSE: The Eradication of Female Subjectivity from American Popular Culture – a brilliant and brave satire of misogyny told through our society’s perspective of women as objects – learned Movie Debuts exclusively.

Arriving on digital platforms this August, DOLLHOUSE is a savage takedown of the Whitney/Britney celebrity-industrial complex. Set in the bubble gum pop world of Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan and told by entertainment reporters. Junie Spoon’s pop star story runs the gamut: from losing her virginity in a sex tape, to 24-hour marriages to a Patty-Hearst style kidnapping and bank heist, to the murder of her mother. The stylized puppets reveal the hypocrisies of an opportunistic society that preys on the talents and contributions of women.

DOLLHOUSE is a scathing look at what it means to be female in a modern world; assaulted by men and women and harassed by the media, representing a new era obsessed with identity and entitlement. Junie’s fall from grace is a cautionary tale about the consequences of denying women their own voice and a reflexive expose forcing us to acknowledge the less than savory pop industrial complex we all can’t help but buy into.

“So here’s the bottom line. DOLLHOUSE is vulgar, scandalous, and offensive, which is exactly why this film works. Here is an engaging movie that holds a mirror up to society and reflects back the ugliness of the misogyny and celebrity obsession it’s guilty of,” wrote Anthony’s Film Review.

Brending’s satirical puppet-animation received accolades for ‘Best Narrative Feature’ and the ‘Spirit of Slamdance Award’ at Slamdance, and also garnered many international triumphs including ‘Best Feature’ at Italy’s Lucca Film Festival.

Junie’s sex tape was recently leaked, and she has responded to the media and the #FreeJunie movement. Support her here: http://www.egoallstars.com/junie-spoons-sex-tape-leaked/.
