Kitten claws nail salon owner turned a forced government shut down into a thriving global success story.

Salon owner Renee Marsterson bought a beauty salon “Kitten Claws Parlour” two weeks before covid hit they were forced to shut down. At the time Renee was a single mother with ntwo children so she need to be able to still support her family.

The very next day after she shut down the salon she had the idea to design custom nail tips painted, and shipped to clients doors globally. Renee posted a set of tips online and there was instantv global demand. The mother of two, worked 20 hours a day to keep up with the demand, painting intricate nail designs and custom made hand painted “Limited edition designer nails”. The designer press on tips have been popular with celebrities and clients wanting exclusive nail designs. Since reopening, Kitten Claws Parlour is one of Brisbane’s leading salons for nails, lashes, injectables as well as Nail Courses.

The salon is a professional affiliate with charity “Beyond Blue” which supports mental health. The name of their charity is “Claws for a Cause”. “We listened to so many of our clients stories and hardships during covid so we wanted to give back,” Renee said. They have raised money raffling off designer bags such as Gucci.

The future plan for the salon is to continue to educate and empower women as business owners to achieve their goals. Renee has helped numerous women regain confidence to get a new start in life, passing on her years of experience teaching nails and business skills through the salons courses as well as her youtube channel “Nay nay nails”.
