Apo Avedissian is developing a reputation as a multi-talented artist. Filmmaking, painting, photography, and writing are among his many talents. He is an Iraqi American artist of Armenian ancestry: the grandson of Armenian Genocide survivors who fled to Baghdad.
The autobiographical novel “Thirteen in Baghdad,” which details Avedissian’s life as an adolescent in Baghdad during the 2003 Iraq War, is among Avedissian’s writing credits.
As of June of 2022, the city of Los Angeles’ iconic Crypto.com Arena (formerly known as STAPLES Center) has commissioned 47 individual art pieces from Apo Avedissian, the majority of which are currently hanging in the venue, and the rest gifted to performing artists. Other companies include the Microsoft Theater and Professional Bull Riders (PBR), amongst others.
The drone-shot “Armenia & Artsakh – A Bird’s Eye View,” portions of which were used in GRAMMY winning band System of a Down’s “Protect the Land” music video and RT America’s production “Forgotten Genocides,” as well as the previous short-film “Obsessive Possessive – An Experience,” have accumulated tens of millions of views.
