‘The DNR Trilogy’ by Don Hill Narrates an Orwellian Thriller, Probes into the Nature of Evil

From exploring the complex relationship between God and humanity to entertaining the readers with a medical, historical fiction, Don Hill’s recently published “The DNR Trilogy: Volume 1: Backing the Wrong Primate” has left an indelible mark on every new reader. A mix of Orwellian prophecy, an exploration into the roots of evil, and the Judeo-Christian concepts of sin and redemption, ‘The DNR Trilogy’ has something for every reader.

The events of the trilogy occurred in the 1980s, where J. D. Brewster, a medical student, experiences dehumanizing events, plunging him headlong into a pit of moral decay that also surrounded those around him. Years later, Brewster is the last man standing in circumstances created by vigilante justice. He now has to decide if his actions had been right or wrong. The judgment will be delivered by others to decide if what he and his colleagues did in the past was an act of evil based upon his recently written records.

“This book is an amazing ride. With the first chapter, the author made me realize how rare great books about the medical field are,” says one reader review.

“Good story telling from an actual physician with lots of experience in the medical field and a surprisingly good writer,” says another reader.

For the author, the novel turned out to be an unintentional probing into the roots of evil. He also encountered questions on why God does not interfere in the self-destructive behavior of man. Other undertones that arose were to do with tribalism and racism as found in modern, progressive ideologies. The events portrayed in the novel aren’t purely fictional, and were inspired by clinical and historical experiences of the author.
