Transit Visa for India

Most foreign nationals are required to apply for a visa to visit India, regardless of the length of stay or purpose of travel. What are the requirements for applying for a Transit Visa for India?

• A passport is valid for a minimum of 180 days with at least two blank pages.

• Two recent passport-size photo

• Evidence of onward travel to India – confirmed air ticket for onward/returned journey.

You should apply for an India transit visa if you need to leave the restricted area at the airport, even for a short time. Those staying in India for less than 72 hours awaiting a connecting flight to another country, whether they have changed airports or not, are eligible for an India Transit Visa. A transit visa for India is required and checked when transferring from an international airport to a domestic airport or even staying at the airport hotel for a few hours.

The transit visa for India is only valid for three days. If you wish to stay longer, you must apply for an appropriate visa. The visa is valid within 15 days of an issue with one or two entries. Please note that the term begins on the day of the issue, not on the day of arrival.
